Marinas in the Harbor

From Jersey City to Fort Lee there are several marinas, with prices like fashionable places in Long Island Sound or Rhode Island. All have ferry or train service to Manhattan. Chelsea Piers is even more expensive. The wakes from small ferries are bad, especially during rush hours.

If you want to sleep aboard the quietest will be in the Morris Canal Basin, where Liberty Harbor and Liberty Landing marinas or on the two sides.

Newport Marina, just south of the Holland Tunnel, has the cheapest access to Manhattan, with a PATH station. It is the worst for wakes however. Use lots of fenders.
