Uniforms, Accessories and Equipment Wear the uniform of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary with pride -- but wear it correctly! For full guidance on wearing all versions of the uniform, refer to Chapter 10 of the Auxiliary Manual. Please remember that although we are civilians, we are expected to wear the uniform properly, especially when in the presence of active-duty Coast Guard personnel (the "gold side"). This means studying the manual closely and knowing what items are authorized with each uniform. You can also watch this slideshow for basic information about uniforms. Most basic uniform items (shirts, trousers, jackets, headgear) can be purchased at the Uniform Distribution Center (UDC) in Woodbine, N.J. However, the UDC does not sell Auxiliary insignia, buttons, or patches. For those items, you will have to order from a district store, which you can find at ShopAuxiliary.com. ShopAuxiliary also has links to dealers that sell boating equipment, including Auxiliary-branded PFDs. Please note: To order Auxiliary uniforms and items from the UDC and the district stores, you will need your Coast Guard Auxiliary member ID number (EMPLID), which is found on your laminated CGAUX ID card.
